CD Copycat
Even though Copycat
works with most of the CD-RW drives
in the market, we cannot guarantee that
it is compatible with all the drives
because drive speed and technology keeps
changing. We suggest that you use the
CD-RW drives from the makers that we
suggested. Should you want to use your
own RW drive, make sure that you check
it from the Compatible Drive list that
we have.

Why does the CD-R/RW always gets ejected
when I insert the disc ?
There may be 2 reasons:
a: The CD-R ( CD-RW ) has less capacity
than the master disc or is not a blank
disc. Change the disc by using an 80
minute 700mb disc.
b: The CD-RW drive you are using is
not compatible to the Copycat. Please
refer to our compatibility list.
3.
What does the number that appears on
the LED means ?
Once the recording starts, LED shows
the capacity of the disc and the number
decreases as the process goes. If you
are using a 650 MB, 74 minute CD-R media,
the number which appears on the LED
indicates the minutes.
4.
Can I erase CD-RW on Copycat ?
Sure. You may insert the CD-RW disc
in the Copycat CD-RW drive of the Copycat,
making sure that there is no disc inside
the CD ROM drive. Once Copycat detects
that there is data in the CD-RW disc,
it will automatically erase. The disc
will be ejected once the process is
done.
5.
What is Firmware ?
Most of the computer equipments work
with drivers. A Firmware is the driver
pre-installed in the hardware. There
are two kinds of firmwares in the Copycat:
One is a firmware for both CD-ROM and
CD-RW drive, which is provided by their
manufacturers. The other firmware is
for Copycat, which is provided by Pengo.
If for some reasons Copycat doesn't
work with your CD-RW drive or should
there be a compatibility problem, please
download a different version of Copycat
firmware at
6.
Why won't the Copycat work even after
I upgraded the CD-RW firmware ?
The manufacturers of CD-RW drives update
their firmwares frequently. However,
not all the latest firmwares are compatible
with Copycat. If your Copycat works
fine, we don't recommend that you update
the firmware of the CD-RW drive or Copycat.
If you already did and you start having
problems with your Copycat, we suggest
that you change it back to the previous
version. The Copycat firmware is available
for download at
7.
What is the left button on the Copycat
?
The left button switches the copy mode.
There is a total of 4 copy modes: Copy
high, Test high, Copy low and Test low.
In normal occasions, you can just use
the Copy High default mode. The other
2 test modes are testing only which
will not record anything on the disc.
If you are using an unstable CD-R media,
you may copy under the Copy Low default
mode. It takes more time for recording,
but the success rate may increase.
